Château Engalin · Three days together

THE STORY

An invisible
thread

What began in Belfast in January 2013 became a life built together.

Laura and Paddy had become family to one another long before their wedding. As Paddy’s professional rugby career took him from Ulster to London and Lyon, and Laura built her own career in law, they shared adventures, everyday moments and an unmistakable sense of humour — always finding reasons to laugh and make the most of life.

As Laura put it in her vows, they hadn't spent those years waiting for this moment. They had been living. So when their loved ones gathered at Château Engalin, it felt less like the beginning of their story than a celebration of everything they had already shared.

WELCOME DINNER

Make yourselves
at home

“Treat it like a holiday.”

That was Paddy's invitation as everyone gathered for the first evening. More than anything, he and Laura wanted their family and friends to relax, enjoy each other's company and make the most of the time they had together.

At Château Engalin, the welcome dinner set the tone: good food, familiar faces and the simple pleasure of being together before the wedding day. A celebration that was never going to last just one night.

THE WEDDING DAY

The loudest laugh
in the room

A day told as much by their friends as by the couple themselves.

John had known Paddy since they were teenagers and Laura almost from the start of their story. So when he stood before them in the flower-filled chapel beneath Château Engalin, this felt less like a formal ceremony than a moment shared among friends. The violin and the emotion of the vows were met with John's affectionate humour — for these two, sincerity and mischief have always gone hand in hand.

From the chapel, the celebration moved through the château grounds towards cocktails beside the pool. At dinner, three speeches took up where the ceremony had left off. Each voice brought a different memory, yet the same picture emerged: Laura's care for the people around her, Paddy's irrepressible playfulness, and the way they bring out the best in each other. Then, for their first dance, Paddy had one more surprise waiting for Laura.

In the end, the people gathered there hadn't just come to witness their story. They had been part of it all along.

THE DAY AFTER PREMIERE

To feel it
all over again

The wedding day was over. But the emotions weren't.

On Sunday, at the pool party, Laura and Paddy watched the first images of their wedding. Not weeks later, or even days later — but the very next day, surrounded by the people who had lived those moments with them.

I had edited a two-minute film overnight so they could experience it all again while the weekend was still unfolding. Their reactions became a memory of their own.

“Your trailer is what brought me back to life on Sunday, ready to party all over again.”

THE POOL PARTY

One more round
by the pool

Sunday had no intention of slowing down.

After the premiere, the DJ was mixing beside the pool, rounds of shots were going around, and the dancing started all over again. The last afternoon became one of the liveliest moments of the weekend.

Not quite an after-party, certainly not a quiet goodbye — just Laura, Paddy and their people making the most of being together a little longer.

We absolutely love our wedding film, thank you so much !

I have no idea how you managed to capture all of the weekend in one video. The film was so energetic and funny but so romantic and emotional as well - the perfect balance of everything. We loved the clip from Paddy's video as well haha it makes explaining Paddy's unusual first dance outfit that bit easier!

THEIR PLAY & FEEL JOURNEY

Laura and Paddy chose the complete Play & Feel Experience for their three days at Château Engalin. The Day After Premiere let them relive the first moments of their wedding while the weekend was still unfolding. Their Wedding Film brings together the voices, laughter and energy of all three days in a cinematic story. And their private Family Film preserves the ceremony and speeches in full, making room for the familiar voices and small moments they'll want to return to years from now.
